I want to unveil a magic trick to get confirmed ticket even when there is no room and tickets are available in waiting list.
That is fully legal and perfectly valid as per Railways transfer of ticket rules. There is no need to fear and do it confidently.
Now suppose you want to book a ticket from New Delhi to Chennai and there is waiting list status of 175 for travel date after a week. What do you do?
Tatkal ticket may only be got 1 day before and there is risk if you're not able to get the Tatkal ticket at all.
If you're travelling in a group, remember that you need only one confirmed ticket while other can legally travel using wait-listed tickets.
Ok. What you need to do is to book ticket in the name of your mother/father using ladies quota or lower birth quota. If you've someone handicapped, then it is even better. Remember lower birth quota is usually available and any single lady travelling along(ticket with single passenger) whose age is more than 45 years can avail it. But unfortunately you can't book online using Lower birth quota or any quota except for ladies quota. So you'll need to visit PRS ticket reservation counter to avail it.
Visit Railway reservation counter with your id and other proofs which proves that you're the blood relative of whose ticket you want to transfer.
You'll need to meet CRS(Chief Reservation Supervisor) who sits in separate room. Reservation clerk will direct you to him.
Carry you id proof too along with a blank paper to write an application for change of ticket details. If the CRS is satisfied then the ticket will be transferred on your name by the reservation clerk.
All the Best!
